Paint Chip Repair and Touch Up Solution
Chipex has developed a market-leading system for the repair of stone chips, minor scratches and road rash. They have partnered with Professional Valeters & Detailers (PVD), the UK’s leading trade association for car care professionals to provide a nationwide repair service.
The Chipex system is a more cost-effective and convenient alternative to bodyshops or SMART repairs, whilst providing simpler application and a better finish than other touch-up products.
Using a unique blending solution and custom paints mixed specifically to match each vehicle, the Chipex system can dramatically improve the appearance of damaged paintwork.
Your local PVD Chipex Approved Applicator has the skills and equipment required to offer you a quick and convenient alternative to attempting a repair yourself. Each Approved Applicators work has been carefully vetted to ensure they can accomplish the best possible finish and can take the stress and mess out of doing it yourself.
Why use Chipex Authorised Repairers
The Chipex solution is ideal for those wanting to improve the appearance of stone chips, road rash, and other minor paint blemishes.
While the Chipex product line is available to the public, using a skilled, proven, and insured professional to source and apply the products saves time, hassle, and will likely yield better results than doing it yourself.
When it comes to paint chip repair, broadly speaking there are four avenues you can take. Firstly, you could take the car to a bodyshop. This will usually give the best results in terms of quality of repair, however it will take your car off the road and has a significant cost.
Secondly you can use a SMART repair service. This will likely give a good, if not perfect, result and can often be carried out at your home, though it too will cost more and take longer.
Using a Chipex Authorised repairer is your third option - providing a finish that will be similar to, if not quite as good as, a SMART repair - but it takes less time and costs much less.
The fourth option is to purchase your own touch-up products and apply it yourself - this will certainly be the cheapest option, but it takes time, can be messy, and depending on your experience and equipment available, the results can be variable.
The Chipex Repair Process
All Chipex Authorised Repairers are independent and will have their own procedures in place, however this is a general guide to the processes involved:
Step 1: Use the map and directory below to find your nearest Repairer
Step 2: Contact them to organise an inspection of your vehicle.
Step 3: The Repairer will then examine the paint damage to assess whether Chipex is the most appropriate solution, and if so, they will take your paint code details, order the paint, and book your vehicle in for the repair. You may also wish to book in a valet or detail at the same time - all repairers are PVD Approved car care professionals and can offer a range of valeting and detailing services.
Step 4: The Repairer will need between 1 and 3 hours to complete the repair depending on the area of paint to be repaired and the finishing required.
NB: Chipex offer a 100% Paint Match Guarantee - however, sometimes the paint match is not satisfactory - paint codes are not always 100% accurate, and older paints can fade over time. In the event the paint match is not good enough, the Repairer may be able to adjust it - adding some time to the repair, or they may have to get a replacement paint from Chipex. If this is the case, it will be necessary to book the vehicle in again once the replacement paint has arrived.
